The Saxon Wrought Iron Style Metal Side Gate is available to buy online in sizes to suit the most common residential opening requirements and is perfect for any location where additional privacy and security is required. The gate is made from solid steel components and benefits from a rust and corrosion resistance zinc plated and black powder-coated paint finish as standard. It features a flat bar 25mm x 10mm framework, 12mm infill bars, a shallow archtop and a double row of fleur-de-lys finials, meaning the gate looks great and will also form an imposing barrier to help restrict access to crucial areas of your property. For ease of installation, the Saxon side gate includes surface mounted adjustable hinges and standard and a universal latch fitting to enable left or right-hand opening.

Ordering Sizes

• Width: Measure the opening between brick walls or existing posts. This measurement will be the size that you need to order. Do not make any other allowances. The “fits opening” dimensions displayed in the drop-down menu already include the space required for the hinges and latch.

• Height: The “physical height” measurement is from the underside of the gate to the highest point. We have not included the space you will need for ground clearance. When installing, 50mm (2”) should be left between the underside of the gate and the finished floor level to allow for freedom of movement.

Example

If the gap size between brick walls is 1220mm (4ft), you will need to order a gate to “fit opening 1220mm (4ft)”.

Do You Need Metal Gate Posts? 

If you need to install metal posts (due to the lack of a suitable support structure), please make sure additional space is available.

Example – A gate to fit an opening of 1220mm combined with 2 x 50mm posts will need an overall space of 1320mm.
